Requirements form the basis of all projects. Verification that requirements have been fulfilled, or the affect of changes on requirements, are the biggest challenges for model-based requirements management.

Traceability is a pre-requisite when assessing that requirements are complete and consistent. Integration of requirements into a modeling tool enables a direct link to be established between business process and software analysis models.

Most of the time such traceability is implemented in a cumbersome or complex manner, making it difficult to maintain the linking between model elements. In addition, most vendors do not take the Requirements Engineer's special circumstances into consideration, or support the ways in which they most commonly work.
